I spend the summers in Michigan and the winters in Wetumpka. As many of you may know Michigan is a golf mecca so I’m spoiled with hundreds of great golf options up north. Emerald Mountain is a work in progress and may be a great public golf course in future years. Right now the front nine is rough. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers can be barely playable. Back nine is better with large nice greens.
The problem are the rates. Weekday this is a $35.00 for 18 / $25.00 for 9 (twilight 9 should be $18.00)
Weekend kick it up $8.00 bucks….
If you have a trail card at RTJ go there. For a few bucks more than Emerald Mountain you can play world class golf courses.
The owner needs to hire an experienced golf marketing guy, lower the rates, get the word out on very affordable golf on an up and coming local Wetumpka golf course. This would create awareness of what’s happening at the course, greatly increase play AND INCREASE REVENUE.
Every time I play there I shake my head at the four vehicles in the parking lot.

Interesting course design. Greens roll well. Friendly staff. My favorite course in the river region. Plenty of gators.

I love this golf course. For starters, the staff are very helpful and friendly and are happy to answer any questions you have. As for the golf course it's an interesting course that offers many challenges while still being beginner friendly enough to enjoy if you are new to the game. The course is huge and offers the front nine being played on the hills and valleys while the back nine is in more of a delta environment. The course gives a sense of privacy with how the holes are set up which makes it great for family outings, games with friends, or even just a solo round (or two). The putting greens are mostly flat but decently large in general and serve as a great place to practice long puts as well as offer forgiveness for the short game. Overall, it is one of the best public courses in the tri-county area and is worth a game of you are in the area.
