Great course overall and you can't beat the price, especially for active duty or veterans! The course is tough with lots of hills but the scenery is beautiful and plenty of wildlife to see as well. Highly recommend!

First time golfing at Lackland Air Force Base, and we were impressed! The course is tough but a lot of fun with plenty of hills that keep each hole interesting. The fairways were in great shape, and it was super easy to get an early morning tee time. We will definitely be back again!

This is my "go-to" course. Great layout and always welcoming staff. As a retired vet, love coming here to play with so many service people and veterans. Yes, it can get busy especially with walkers, however, that's ok and totally understandable. Enjoy the scenery, moment and life is good! Thanks Gateway!!!

Normally have a great time on this course, cheap for service-members, challenging change of elevation, etc. Paid today for 18 and started around 3. The course was exceptionally busy today, lots of fours playing very slow. Slow enough that I started on Hole 10 because Hole 1 had a group that took maybe 20 minutes to play through. That was the story for the whole course, I started on 10, struck and by the time I get to my ball, a group of four skipped in front of me when no one was there previously. It took me almost 2 hours to get through 7 holes when I can normally get through 18 in less time, and when I went to the front office to ask for a partial refund or an IOU for 9, which is something I have done before, the older gentleman who was cleaning the carts off came over and said the store was closed and asked what I needed. I asked if I could have a partial refund or an IOU, he laughs in my face and says no. No explanation, doesn’t let me explain, nothing. I would have understood if he had told me something about a policy or that it was past a certain time, etc that would have been fine. Sometimes it’s just one of those days where the course is busy. But to laugh in my face and offer nothing in return, a “why” is insanely disrespectful. Definitely put off from coming to play here for a while.

Beginner player here. Golf course is tough but good coming from strictly observation. Situation: Buddy reserved a tee time of 4:30pm for two. Paid and did not pay attention to what the total came out to. Went to get cart and cart personnel Mr. Carlos Garcia gave him a hard time. Having a flight attitude towards my buddy for wanting a cart so close to return time. My buddy just wanted to play the first 9. We are both USMC veterans with disabilities just for reason why we needed a cart In general. I’m not there to play but just observe by the way. However as we were on the first hole my buddy did his drive and I just wanted to see if I could hit a drive on course instead of top golf. Mind you we still thought we paid for 2 at this point since the reservation was for 2. Mr. Garcia approached us with an attitude asking did we pay for two. Why is he hitting without his own clubs. There are rules and you are breaking etiquette. Very rude and unprofessional behavior. We are confused at this point and ask why is he being a A towards use. He’s reply was you’re being a A for not having your own clubs. Then proceeds to tell us he is going to check if we paid for 2. As we are on the 2nd hole, another employee approached us and let us know that he was only charged for 1. We are shocked and asked how if we reserved for two. Other employee was polite but short probably due to Mr. Garcia telling a story to him. We go back to club house and figure out what had happened and ensure that I will not hit anymore. However we had to pay a riders fee? Ok. We paid and continued recon of the course. We returned the cart and I asked Mr. Garcia for his name so I could write a review. Then persisted to put me on the phone with his boss. Where I believe nothing will happen due to a employee being able to talk to customers with no repercussions. I tell the boss what happened and he asked to call him tomorrow. I said that’s fine. Mr. Garcia asks if he can tell his side. Which came out very different and a whole different tone. After hanging up Mr. Garcia kept up with his act and proceeded to say “you people” and that anyone who breaks etiquette would be treated like this. At this point nothing will change the way he believes how things should go, so we left.
Truthfully it all started with the cart and a miscommunication at the front desk. No, I won’t buy a set of clubs to play a game. Why would I do that. Also, if I was interested in golfing that might have killed what ever notion of wanting to play. My thing is that we are truly beginners and just wanted to play a game and work on our mechanics. Customer service and de-escalation skills. Golf course Should want to promote players to want to play there. Take this review how you would want to, be cautious dealing with Mr. Garcia.
