Full Disclosure: I live near this club and play here more than I play at any other MB area golf course primarily due to the convenience. I'm a high handicapper. When I started playing here I qualified it to my golfing friends as "not a goat track", but not Caledonia either. Over the last year, as a new management team took over, I was skeptical but hopeful that things would improve at the course. If you look at the Heron Point website you'll see what changes they are making. I have seen a major improvement in the fairways, tee boxes and even on the greens, which were the area most in need of rejuvination. As a horticultural professional myself I know how much time and work is involved in returning a golf course to good/great condition after it has been under-maintained. I always say "It didn't get this way overnight...it won't get fixed overnight." I have to say that since this spring the changes in the course have been dramatic and very much for the better. Greens - the hardest area on a golf course to maintain and improve, are really showing the results of the efforts here. Most are either thriving on their own or have been re-sodded and are now self repairing. Fairways are in better shape than I've seen them in 4 years. First cut rough can be a real challenge here but that's why golf is a 4-letter word. I've read many reviews stating that starting times are not honored and that there is a lot of slow play on the course. While I've never had that experience, I can imagine that it's a disappointment on any golf course, not just Heron Point. I like this course for a lot of reasons. It's a great value, the staff are polite, the restaurant has cold beer and hotdogs, and the playing experience fits my skills. It's still not a goat track and not Caledonia either, but it's a great golfing experience at the right price for beginners, and mid handicappers. The course is vastly improved over last year, and even over this spring. Stop by - You'll see for yourself.

I played Heron Point back in April and the course needed a lot of work. I said I wouldn't play again but I heard about some good things that they were doing so I decided to give them another shot. WOW!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! The golf course has taken a complete 180 degree turn. Tees, rough, fairways and even the greens are better. The greens aren't quite back to 100% but they are pretty close. It definitely shows that the staff and ownership really care about their product and are putting the time, effort and money back into this gem. I challenge all the people who left negative reviews to give it another shot. I'm looking forward to watching this course progress and become an elite course on the grand strand.

Cheap (25$) but not worth it so we played just 9 holes. Very dry fairways, dried up greens. Nevertheless some challenging holes with water. Restaurant was closed at 3 p.m. Drinking water buckets along the course without cups. Bored and unkind staff.
