My son and I played Blackwood today and had an incredible experience. The morning started with a frost delay that backed up several groups. I figured we would be there all day. However an employee came out and offered us the opportunity to start on back nine. We jumped at the chance and played the round in less than 4 hours. The course is in impeccable shape. Fairways, greens, bunkers were out of this world. A few of the tee boxes probably needed a trim but I’ll take that versus hitting off dirt. Encountered multiple friendly staff!! Not sure why I read a few negative reviews but this is the best conditions I have played at Blackwood. Get out and give it a chance as you won’t be disappointed!

My girlfriend and I traveled home to play golf with some hometown friends on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. Our drive was about 7-8 hours, as we now reside in Massachusetts. We had a group of four players scheduled to tee off, but needed a third cart because my girlfriend wanted to come along as a spectator and get introduced to the sport of golf. We politely explained the situation to the woman at the front desk and offered to pay whatever was necessary to use a third cart. She immediately shut us down, saying it was against course policy. (Please remember this detail for later.) Since we had five total people (four players and one spectator), we tried to solve the issue by having three people ride on one of the two carts we were assigned. Before we could even reach the first tee, we were stopped again and told that having three people on a cart was not allowed; again, due to "company policy." They stated that if our spectator (my girlfriend) wanted to join us, she would have to walk the entire 18 holes, while the rest of us used the carts. They were unwilling to consider any alternative or compromise, despite our willingness to work together to find a mutually beneficial solution. Naturally, my girlfriend did not want to walk the full 18, and no one in our group expected her to want or do so. It was also raining that day, so rather than enjoying the round or getting to observe, she was forced to sit in the parking lot for the entire duration of our round, which was 4-5 hours. That alone felt extremely disappointing. Now here's where things became truly frustrating. As we played without her, we noticed the group ahead of us had six people and three carts. This is exactly what we had requested and were told was not allowed. (See screenshot(s) for group of 6 who had 3 carts). We brought this to the attention of the front desk and showed them the photos. The same female employee then claimed that this group had spoken to the manager, who approved their setup. No one we spoke to was willing to take responsibility for the inconsistency or the unfair way that we were mistreated We left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and frankly, disrespected. We couldn't tell if we were treated this way because of our age (mid to late 20s), or simply because our spectator was a woman. Throughout the entire encounter, we were respectful and patient, yet were met with rigid, unsympathetic responses. Neither employee we spoke with operated with a shred of empathy or professionalism. If you or your loved ones are looking for a golf course that values consistency, fairness, and respect, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience was defined by inflexibility, inconsistency, and indifference. The only thing you will find at Blackwood is empty liquor bottles scattered throughout the course like an Easter egg hunt.

Decent course with tes boxes and greens in good shape. A few Interesting holes, as well. I have a big concern about their $10 upcharge for a single golfers who take a cart. This is above the $12 standard cart fee. Lost my business, pal.
