Winter golf is great and creative.....the frozen tundra, the crazy bounces, and dumber luck than regular season. Love playing here

I will start out by saying that the course was in much better shape than the last time I played it several years ago. I also want to say that there was nothing they could do today about the wet conditions. Other than that, the day was a fiasco. After breezing through the front side, our group was in the fairway on number 10 when we came upon a foursome that was playing at the pace of tortoises. They had been nowhere in sight on the front side, so we figured they must have gone off number 10. They were fishing balls out of the water and having a good old time, while taking their time. While we were waiting forever in the fairway for them to finish the hole, the starter came out and told us that there was an outing and that we were going to have to pull over and let two more groups go through us. We weren't happy, but what could we do, so we got in behind the trees on the right. One of the players in the group playing through landed a ball right in the middle of us, and never hollered. These guys played through us and were just as slow as the players in front of us, as was the next group that played through also. What we didn't know at the time was that the group who had come with us and was right behind us on the 10th tee was literally accosted by the two groups who eventually played through, because they weren't happy that our group was already on the tee. Our back nine took almost 4 hours to play. That is just unacceptable. When we finished the round, we went in to eat. While the two girls at the counter were very nice, they had extreme difficulty keeping our orders straight. They charged me for something that eventually they didn't have and replaced it with something that was not good. They also got my sandwich wrong, after I waited 20 minutes for it. I ate it anyway, and at the risk of sounding really nasty, which I don't mean to, it was barely edible. I understand that there are just days that people can't do anything about, but enough was enough today. This will be my last round at Old Avalon.

Vic D here, played today & was pleasantly surprised, course was in superb condition, especially the greens. Played here all my life & it's back. Highly recommend to anyone for a great experience.
