I brought my grandson here to the driving range. It was his first introduction to the game. The facility is a bit dated but everything was functional. The grass tee area was a bit tall but still workable and manageable. The also have mat tees. We used those fro driving practice. They have a practice putting green and a green to practice pitching, chipping and bunker shots. I decided to play 9 holes here later that afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the greens, tees, and fairways. The rough is fairly thick. It’s difficult to locate your ball in the rough. The course is very flat. With a few water and sand hazards. Overall a nice choice for a quick 9.

This course is representative of its (I assume) owner. I played 9 holes here a few weeks ago, and while it was bad, it wasn’t this bad. That time, I had a pleasant interaction with the yellow-toothed man that I assume owns this landfill. So when a friend came into town from three hours away, I decided to book us a tee time here last Sunday. Now, onto the reason I will never be back. We had a 7:40 AM tee time for a twosome—the earliest available that day. When we arrived, I could tell the owner was already in a bad mood. He told us it was cart path only and apologized for the course conditions, stating verbatim: “The dandelions are bad because of the hot and dry summer we had last season. I know this because I’m a licensed greenskeeper.” (Whatever that means.) At this point, I thought maybe the weeds were just bad in the rough and it wouldn’t be too awful on the fairways. Well, I was wrong. As you can see in the video below, it looked like a cotton field as far as the eye could see. I lost an entire box of balls that day. The owner gave us a generous discount of $5 each—so $85 total for two players to hack through this warzone. But that’s not even the worst part. There was a group of seniors ahead of us on the front 9 that seemed to grow in size every hole. It started as a foursome, and by the 9th hole, I counted seven of them. Still, not a big deal—it was Sunday and I had no other plans than golf. What really got me was at the turn. We pulled up to the clubhouse at 9:38 AM—on time—and the owner was chatting with the group of seniors. He turned to us and said: “Hey guys, these are my members. They’re gonna go ahead and let you play through.” “Awesome,” I thought. I replied, “Thanks—we just need to use the restroom really quick, and we’ll be back out.” We went in, used the restroom, and then walked up to the bar to grab a hot dog and a soda. That’s when the owner approached and said: “I thought you guys were going to the restroom only. What do you want?” I said, “We decided to grab a soda and a snack before heading back out. Is there a problem?” He responded: “Well, you just said you were going to the restroom and didn’t mention anything about a snack. My members are waiting out there—and they’ve had the first tee time every Sunday for the last 10 years.” Let me be clear, sir: You run a crappy public golf course. I just paid $85 to play here, and you’re complaining about pulling two sodas from a fridge and throwing a cold hot dog on a bun? Get a grip. To top it off, we played Hickory Woods the day before—a course located less than a mile from Eagle’s Nest—and it was in perfect shape. I guess your great-value “greenskeeper license” didn’t do you much good. I will never play this course again. And if you’re smart and like to spend your money wisely, I suggest you don’t either.

First the good the greens are in decent shape The cart girl was sweet and checked on us multiple times the club pro there is a really personable guy and enjoyed talking to him. Now the rest. This goat track is a mockery to golf. The fairways are made up of dandelions in the spring and crabgrass in the fall. If you have never lost a ball in the fairway before you have not been to the eagle nest. If it rains the night before wear hunting boats as drainage is not a thing here. The sand traps are close to kitty litter and the pricing at $47 is inline with other courses within a 20 mile radius that are 100% better. What an insult to the courses that actually work on their course maintenance on a day to day basis. We played the other day and the starter (cart jockey) kept pushing us to play faster and urged us to hit at the group in front of us. "The guy is 150 yards from me I am not hitting" You won't hit him was the reply. It is common practice to push people playing slow however our round was finished in 4 hours 10 minutes ON A WEEKEND. the first time he watched I had a birdie the other 3 went par, bogey, bogey it was weird he would watch us play an entire hole and did this several times. We are bogey type golfers for the most part and play fast. So if you want to pay Mason golf center money but play a junk course and be harassed even though you are playing at a nice pace this place is for you! My advice to the cart guy is get off the cart and plant some grass! The ownership doesn't give a crap about its clientele. If it was taken care of it could be a nice course with its mature trees and fair course design. Currently the clubhouse looks like the last remodel was in the 60s the roof is missing shingles the parking lot is begging for asphalt. There club mascot is a poor tom cat with a golf size boil on its head. They don't even take care of the damn cat! I assume every dollar in just lines the owners pocket because it is certainly not going into the course. If golf had a kitchen nightmares equivalent the eagles nest would be a great course to be on the show. I unfortunately will not be back.

Mayflies everywhere, cart died on hole 4 and overall terrible course. Fairway and rough are the same, standing water on sides of path. No irrigation. Onsite crew only seem to want leagues or regulars. Got upset at us for not bringing back the cart that died… what should we have done pushed it?

Eagles nest is a super important high-school golf course, The workers are all very nice and if the place had irrigation it would probably be an awesome course. Its really beginner friendly and if you go at the beginning of the season then its usually in pretty good condition- towards the end of the season you'll want to play lift, clean and place since the grass is patchy but other than that it is in pretty good shape
