Carroll Meadows is a great local course with an amazing layout that keeps things interesting. The greens are in excellent shape — fast, true, and tricky enough to challenge all skill levels. Fairways are well kept, and the overall course is very playable. Staff is friendly, and the rates are reasonable. Definitely a fun and rewarding round!

I had the first tee time on a slightly foggy Thursday morning at 6:50, with the first avl time of 6:30 on-line. The sprinklers were still going off on the course including the first tee box, so I had to dodge them to start my day. This was a pattern on several holes where I had to time my tee shot or another shot around the sprinklers, I missed timed one fast rotating sprinkler in the middle of a back swing on hole 14. Yes, the sprinklers were still running when I got to hole 14. Most courses run their sprinklers at dawn or even before that. I’ve never run into sprinklers on the first tee box or on a back 9 hole. It has been very dry the past few weeks so running them is needed, just an earlier start would be appreciated. The greens were being rolled and cut and they looked and played in good shape. The few greens I putted on that had not been rolled were very wet and slow from watering. There were some broken tees on the tee boxes, but most tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were in dry/brown shape from the lack of rain. In some ways that was not a bad thing as you got a lot of roll on your tee shot. One of the best parts of the course is the layout itself. There are some neat hole designs like the par 3, 7th. A suggestion would be to try and lengthen one of the par 3’s. I used nothing longer than a 7 iron on all. A par 3 requiring a long iron,or even a hybrid or 5 wood, would add to the challenge. I encountered many workers on the course during my round and they were all friendly and courteous.

The course was in very good condition considering how hot and humid it's been recently. The greens were soft and receptive. The course has some interesting holes. I will definitely play there again.
