Played golf here on our recent trip to Topsail Island. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and everyone was kind and courteous. I really enjoyed the golf course! Some really great holes and found it in a lot better shape than some of the recent reviews. Stopped into the bar for a post round beer… bartender and patrons were fantastic. Give this place a shot when visiting the Island. I’ll definitely be revisiting again next year.

Used to love this course but it’s in such bad shape I’ll never be back. 1. The golf carts are going to get someone killed. They stall every time you hit the gas and you have to cross the road multiple times. Had to switch carts after 10. 2. Tee boxes were a cow pastures. 3. The greens look like the fairways. Sand and divots everywhere. 4. The fairways are rock solid and they’re mostly sand. 5. I’ve attached a photo of how the owner responds to frustrated customers. He’s a prick. I love supporting local businesses but after seeing the way he deals with customers, I hope someone else buys this place. Figure it out guy. Stop making excuses everywhere is better. Even ironclad is better now

Pros: The restaurant and bar were very impressive. The food was reasonably priced, high quality, and was a great serving size for the price. Pro-shop staff was friendly and courteous. Helped to explain the course and what to expect. The locations of the driving range and cart pickup were conveniently located. Cons: The course was in desperate need of attention. The tee boxes were overgrown to the point that sometimes it was hard to even see the markers. (Pictures attached). The greens were also in rough shape some had complete bald spots that were almost completely mud. Both issues in my opinion were not just do to rain or weather as it had been great weather but appeared more from neglect. Also, the drainage was not very good as there were some puddles on the fairway deep enough to lose a ball and had clearly been there for a while, and absolutely not intended water hazards. while some fairways had the grass-maintained others had grass high enough that it was easy to lose a ball in the fairway. To the point that I found 9 random balls that were in the grass just off the fairway (2-4 inches) just on the front nine. Conclusion: For the price it was fair, I did not feel like I had overpaid. However, had I not gotten a discounted price, I would have been more disappointed. I would return for the food, but not for the course. I feel this is a fair review, and would not recommend it.

Try to AVOID this course at all costs, for a so called “country club” they have rude staff and also have people riding around on the course acting like they are part of the staff/ crew yelling at players for their poor pace of play. Multiple fairways with patchy grass and or sand. Bunkers are like hitting on rocks, don’t play early morning because they will not sweep the dew off the greens. Greens are super inconsistent, some times you the greens are like hitting on concrete they’re so fast and some greens are like trying to out through tall grass. If you stop at the turn to get a drink/ food you will enjoy that but as soon as you’re back out on the course you’re going to want to go home. Funny thing is that every bad review they will respond and talk about having poor weather but the interesting thing is that we in North Carolina have not had terrible weather in a long time. And even funnier is that the way they respond to bad reviews is so nasty that it proves my point of how disrespectful the staff is. Play at your own risk. If I could review this as a no star or even a half star I would but it sadly won’t let me

Very nice layout. Challenging course but not too difficult for an average golfer. Course was in decent shape but greens were a little wooly. Greens fees are very reasonable. Restaurant has a good menu and great service. I would definitely play here again.
