I don't golf, but my husband wanted a driving range. Spooky Brook was the nearest one still open in November. It was a lovely day, the links looked inviting, and there were a couple dozen cars in the parking lot. Fees seemed reasonable, and the club house was spare but comfortable. I can't say anything about the golf course(s?).

The course is very nice, but the staff was not accommodating to beginner players. Pace of play was kept fine but the staff complained we were out too long, breaking rules, didn’t have enough clubs, misused cart, and many other things. Along with this the staff member came at us so aggressively yelling and screaming at kids who weren’t knowingly doing anything wrong. Overall the course is nice but the staff needs to lighten up and change the rules if they don’t want kids playing on their course.

The staff at this course demonstrated a disappointing lack of understanding when it comes to basic customer experience. My wife and I were turned away because she was wearing jeans. When we asked for any flexibility, the only response was, “It’s on the website.”
To be clear: I’m not disputing the rule exists—I’m questioning the complete absence of empathy or common-sense discretion in enforcing it. I work in the city, took an hour-long train, and then drove 40 minutes just to make our tee time. A polite reminder or warning would’ve gone a long way.
I’ve played this course many times before and generally enjoy it. But the way this situation was handled makes it clear they care more about rigid policy than customer satisfaction. They’ve lost a customer.
