8/16/2025. The current condition is borderline unplayable. I live locally and this was my first time playing this course. When we arrived the worker at the pro shop gave us a discount because the course was in "worse shape then they usually keep it". I assumed it was because there has been little rain but it sounds like they had some sort of watering issue as well. This unfortunately lead to the worst course conditions I've ever seen. Which is terribly unfortunate because you can tell this course would be awesome and 5 star worthy provided the greens were in good shape. They have unique and interesting holes and the greens have fun shape and slope. There are some fun placements of fairway bunkers, that play like actual sand. (Not a given at a lot of courses in these parts). As the pictures will detail, it's just in incredibly rough shape. Hole 7 is the "green" that is literally dirt, unputtable. Tee box's are brutal. There is a lawnmower that presumably broke right in front of a par 3, which you can't do much about I suppose. But after the dirt green it became laughable, until you realize you spent $32. I'm not an expert on how you get this course back on its feet but it would because an awesome course if they can just get the greens in order. You can tell they have the bones to be tricky in a fun way. I would stay away from this course for this year. Until they get their house in order. Get some grass on the greens and get rid of all the potmarks in the ones that actually have grass. This is mostly just sad. If they get it together this will be one of the coolest and unique 9s in the area.

This golf course used to be a fun, nine whole course well maintained and fun to play. However, it’s a total mess right now, and the staff member responsible overall for this golf course should be ashamed of himself! The tee boxes, a mess, the fairways, even worse, the greens were covered with just small areas of green grass and the >90% was dirt filled with cracks and holes, unplayable!!! Our golf cart should have been banned… No locked brake capacity, which is dangerous and a liability on course as hilly as this one. The owner/manager should be afraid of lawsuits because it’s just a matter of time before someone gets hurt on this fiscally abandoned course. I want to be clear… This is not the greenskeeper’s fault! This is a total disregard by the manager or owner of this facility. It is a complete embarrassment to the Rochester golfing community! It needs to be closed down NOW and sold to someone who cares and who can finally sink some money into renovations that should have been done long ago. We had a similar experience with the hotel/restaurant…..no one seems to care and they just keep ripping people off. Shame on you, Woodcliff……should be a class action lawsuit against you for all those golfers who paid money for this MESS!

If you’re looking for a way to ruin your weekend, waste your money, and question humanity — congratulations, you’ve found it. Woodcliff Golf Course is less a golf course and more a tragic experiment in disappointment. Let’s start with the course itself. Calling it a “golf course” is generous — it’s a collection of uneven fields where the grass looks like it hasn’t seen a mower since the 90s. Every “green” plays like the surface of the moon, and the bunkers are so rock-hard I’m convinced they were poured out of concrete. You could lose a ball by sneezing too hard here. The staff? Imagine being greeted by people who look actively offended that you exist. I’ve met DMV workers with more enthusiasm. The only thing slower than their service is the pace of play — you’ll finish a round in about the same time it takes a glacier to move. And don’t get me started on the “amenities.” The clubhouse smells like expired coffee and regret. The bathrooms? Let’s just say they double as a wildlife sanctuary. The restaurant somehow manages to turn a simple burger into a culinary war crime — dry, burnt, and somehow cold at the same time. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. If your idea of a good time is losing balls in dead grass, being overcharged for mediocrity, and staring into the abyss wondering why you didn’t stay home — Woodcliff is your spot.
