This majestic power plant is a great addition to the natural beauty of the area! Its smokestack is visible from miles around. Also, ever since I saw the TV coverage of Three Mile Island when I was a little kid I have been a big fan of hyperboloid cooling towers - and B.L. England's doesn't disappoint! The only thing that kept me from making this a five-star review was the lack of a gift shop. If they added one of those the B.L. Generating Station would be a must-see on everyone's Jersey Shore bucket list!

@ Glenn Hartman This is definitely (or 'defiantly') not a nuclear power station. This facility burned coal in the first two units and Bunker C oil in the third. The hyperboloid cooling tower, while often associated with nuclear power stations, does not indicate the presence of a nuclear reactor: I can show you coal-fired stations that have such towers, and at least one nuclear station that doesn't. Furthermore, no nuclear power station has a large cylindrical chimney, baghouse scrubbers, conveyor belts, coal silos, rail yard, ash pond, or coal storage pile. This facility shut down on May 1 2019 and is currently being dismantled, with the substation and switchyard being considered for repurposing for offshore wind farms.

The five stars are in memoriam for the fun nine hole, company-built, B.L. England golf course adjacent to the power plant that I used to play every summer when we stayed in Sea Isle. The course closed suddenly a few years ago and I moved over the Heritage Links a mile or so south, which is also nice, but doesn't have the working class/Jersey Shore ambiance that B.L. had.

Drove all the way to NJ for the experience of a lifetime. Closed! The clouds added more smoke to the sky. Definitely will not be coming back anytime soon. At least until some new management takes over.

It's not a nuclear plant. It's a coal-fired power plant. Quit confusing it with the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station. Just because there's a generic cooling tower, like almost all power plants have, doesn't mean it's nuclear.
