Grand View Lodge Spa & Golf Resort Tee Times

The hospitality was fantastic. Drea at the front desk was especially kind and very helpful in making sure our stay was exceptional. We loved the rustic lodge and the smell of pine bonfires. Our kids loved the pools and the ice fishing derby. Our winter get away was magical!

My husband and I have been going to Grandview Lodge in Brainerd, MN for the past 25 years and have always enjoyed it. Well, that came to a halt after our last stay. The rooms, while being updated, are pretty tacky as well as the walls being paper thin. I thought we had people in our room one morning, but as it turns out, it was the cleaning crew cleaning the room next door. It was that loud!!! The biggest concern however, was at checkout when I had a concern and literally, wanted Chris, the Front Desk Manger, to just acknowledge my concern. He was completely dismissive of my concern, of me and the fact that we had just spent money at the spa, Northwoods Pub, etc. He was all about principal and that I was wrong, and he was right. He did nothing wrong and that was it. I point blank asked him if he was going to do anything to make my stay better and he said no. So then I asked him, so you are OK with me leaving upset and he said Yes. No Customer Service at all. I am in customer service and I can tell you, that I would NEVER have treated anybody like that. I would have listened and then talked but never just be dismissive of a 25 year customer. The funny thing is that my husband and I had just talked about possibly buying some Grandview Real Estate the night before. Well, guess what, that will never happen. I am so sad about this as we had always enjoyed our stays in the past, but all it takes is one person to ruin something and turn all memories into a negative. Thanks Chris for doing that.

We enjoy going to Grandview a few times a year for long weekends, typically we go in the off season to get a change of scenery! The accommodations have always met our expectations, we’ve stayed in the one room cabins by the lake, townhouses by the golf course and Roy cabins. There are always nice configurations that work well with kids and families, even the accommodations that feel more dated have all of the necessary offerings you’d need or expect in a mid-level hotel! The reason we continue to come back is really the lakeside pool with the zero entry. It’s a great pool option for little kids with the walk in area and small slide, it keeps our two little kids occupied and we love the offerings on site that make it a very easy and low key getaway for our family (pools, hot tub, playgrounds in warmer weather, pub with bar food and music, pizzas that can be ordered to go). S’more kits are an adorable plus! This most recent visit over NYE was the first time I felt like GVL was starting to fall below the expectations we’ve had. The waterside pool heating was broken so the water was too chilly to be in there with kids and that really took away from the experience we expected to have for the weekend. They also seemed like they were running short or not of a lot of items which was surprising. I also keep being perplexed by the game room that is next to the pub, it seems like a very low lift to make that space more kid friendly, engaging and offer more activities as it is a pretty sad game room as is! Lots of potential and I’d love to see GVL invest more in the amenities for kids and adults to make it a bigger draw and justify the price point (better game room, saunas, more wellness amenities, an Italian or Mexican food offering available all year etc!!)

There is something truly special about watching couples celebrate at Grand View Lodge. As a DJ with Complete Weddings + Events, I have seen how the lake backdrop creates a sense of calm and beauty that carries through the entire day. When the evening begins and the dance floor fills, the energy shifts in the best way. It is a venue that honors both the quiet moments and the joyful ones.

Beautifully decorated for the holidays. We were in a winter wonderland. There was winter fun in the resort. Lighted ice skating rink, sledding hill, sleigh rides. 2 indoor pools with waterslides and hot tubs. Northpark outdoor year round hot tub was a big hit. The 1 bedroom Grandview cabin had views of Gull Lake and was walking distance to main lodge and waterfront pool. Shuttle service was quick and convenient. Restaurant has excellent food. Staff was very friendly. So much to do in the summer too. More restaurants are open in the summer too. We will be back.
