Teeing off of a chipping mat on a pile of plywood describes this course perfectly... Watch out for the random hidden holes around the apron. You'll break an ankle if you're not careful.

I LOVE this golf course! I went for the first time in 2023 and wanted to go back as often as I could. It is a hidden gem, comparable to the “big fancy” courses that will cost you over $100 per player in challenging holes and aesthetics. Honestly some of those holes… they best even the greatest golfers (I’m talking about myself … kidding, hehe).
I encountered some health problems within my nervous system in mid 2024, which brought disaster to my life. I lost my mobility, my dexterity, my energy, my mind a little bit, my career, and my life as I knew it would never be the same.
I’ve been working on trying to get my life back, and a big part of it is golf, and the biggest win for me was going to Downing Farms on Friday the 19th in the afternoon. Our original tee time was 4:10, but we hit delays upon delays and almost didn’t go (we live over 45 min away and traffic was doing all it could to stop us), but after a quick phone call to the shop the wonderful staff gave us a 12 minute later tee time, JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT and we showed up and were met with the staff I always enjoyed chatting with at check in… and the whole day was everything I had been missing.
Was my game perfect? Yes, because I spent it on this beautiful course. Made new friends, too! At the bar after the round, Kathy and Stefanie behind the counter were SO SWEET and kind, so friendly. There was a league there celebrating their win, and a man named Jeff who cracked me up and a gentleman named Bob with a a Malachite necklace I made fast friends with. I hadn’t been to the course in over a year & I felt perfectly at home. Everyone should have someplace they can feel that, and I am so thankful to the entire staff and other patrons at downing farms for a truly memorable and enjoyable evening. I cannot wait to go back.
