Let me preface this by saying the views from the Queenstown Harbour Golf Course are absolutely stunning. But unfortunately, the golf itself was about as enjoyable as hitting a cart path. Seriously, this course needs to iron out some serious kinks. We booked a tee time for 12 pm on a Sunday, snagged a deal (thankfully!), because at $150 a pop, you expect a course that doesn't feel like it's “driving” you mad with frustration. The starter told us things were moving fast, but honestly, the only thing moving fast was the ball rolling off the ridiculously slick greens! The front nine was a 2 hours and 15 minutes. The back 9 took us 3 hours! We still finished a whopping 37 minutes behind schedule with no thanks to the course ranger who was apparently MIA. Seriously, where was the marshal? To make matters worse, the cart girl was a ghost. Saw her twice in 18 holes, and then she clocked out at 4 pm with two more hours of daylight left! Don't even get me started on the food shack. Hot dogs and burgers only, which is a real bummer when you have alpha-gal and can't eat beef. And it closed at 3 pm! The hot dog, chips and cookie was $8! So here's my advice: eat a HUGE breakfast, pack enough snacks to survive a zombie apocalypse, and stock up on drinks from the cart lady whenever you see her because you probably won't see her again. Honestly, I was hoping for a relaxing round of golf, but I left feeling like I'd been through a “rough” patch. This course has serious potential, but right now, it's just not worth the “green”. Maybe with some serious improvements, I'd consider coming back, but until then, I'll be looking for a course that doesn't leave me feeling so “bogey”. If you look at the other reviews you can see this has been a problem in the past and said they were working on it. If this was the case this would not have happened. It’s easy to calla mulligan on the golf course, but to say you’re still working on it would be way over par!

Played the river course. Challenging! The renovated bunkers are large, filled with beautiful white sand! Don't get caught in one with your ball in the front. You might have to hit out away from the pin! Excellent course, beautiful views of the bay. Check out the bungalows on the 3rd hole facing the water. A great option for a large group of golf junkies! The staff is very friendly, professional and helpful. Its worth the trip over the bay Bridge to play this course. A true gem on the lower pennisula!!

The course was great last year, however, things are drastically different this year. Tons of burnt fairways, greens punched during mid summer, and lack of grass all around the greens due to sod being placed. Not sure why the prices are at a premium when the course isn’t in good conditions.
