This course is so bad... Just horrible. Stay away absolutely dismal conditions.

We last played Cross Creek four years ago. The course conditions were a bit improved but the recent tropical storms have left their mark. Some areas were still soggy from rain and we played 90/90 to protect the fairways. This had a small impact on pace of play but we still finished in about 4.5 hours. The course layout is fun to play with flat, water hazard laden, front nine and a hilly back nine. Greens were fast but playable but hole placement made staying below the pin imperative.
The facility has suffered a bit over time with some wear and tear and the dining area/snack bar are tucked behind a maze of hallways.
Still, a worthwhile visit.

Course is in good condition and has a fairly quick pace of play. The range is "Irons Only." Can't speak to drainage conditions.
This course is extremely tight and challenging for those, like myself, who have a tendency to shank the ball off the tee. It's a nice, short course but definitely not good for a beginner. Novices should be fine for most of the round but may have some challenges here and there I'd estimate that approximately 50% of the course has a fairly wide open fairway while the other 50% is medium tight or just a bit wider than "tight."
My only complaint on conditions would probably go to the bunkers. They're in need of a new layer of sand and grooming. I don't believe many of them had rakes either (some did though). Our two-some was paired with a random couple and the husband ended up denting a club when he connected with a rock trying to get out of the trap. If I were him I probably would've risen a stink over it as it blended in and wasn't necessarily easy to notice.
Overall, the course is great based off of the price alone. My round was $36 for greens fees and cart. In my short "golfing-in-the-DMV" life, that price really can't be beat. If they fixed the bunkers up I think I'd be able to give it a 5 for combination of challenge, price/value, and course maintenance.
**NOTE: Hole 14 is currently under repair. I'm excited to see how it looks once it's done, but as of this review it is currently "green only" so you're chipping on and putting only.**
