What a great public course. I've played here twice now and enjoy it a lot. The staff are always courteous and even walking up to inquire about getting on the course as a single, I haven't had to wait at all. A few thoughts about the course: 1. The fairways and greens are zoysia. In the fairway, balls sit up perfectly almost every time. In the rough you can expect the ball to settle down at least half the height of the ball, making getting the ball out challenging. The zoysia greens are very firm and quick. I love putting on them because the run fast and true. 2. There are many doglegs on the course. The most notable are #1 and #10. Both are sharp dogleg left par 5's. If you play straight to the fairway, both holes are 3-shot par 5's. However, you can cut the dogleg if you hit your driver high over the trees that create the dogleg and get to both greens in two. There is pretty good risk/reward for going over the trees. 3. About half the holes are what I would call self-contained, meaning you hardly see any other holes or groups while playing the hole you're on. This makes the course feel intimate and very nice to play. 4. Lots of trees on the course, but you can play away from these as you almost always have one side of the fairway open when the other side has dense trees. It helps to be able to work the ball both ways a little bit, but straight will never hurt you here. 5. There are a variety of green shapes and styles. Some greens are relatively flat and the ball stays on the green even at the edges. Other greens are turtle shells with little false fronts. Balls will reject off the edges if you leave shots too short of the middle of the green. The pitch and chips shots here can be challenging too. These really keep you on your toes. 6. The practice range and practice putting green are in excellent shape and afford good places to warm up. They have both grass and mats at the driving range. The attached pics are, in order, approach shot on #10, green complex on #12, green complex on #13, and the par-3 14th hole. If you're in Manhattan and are looking for a place to get in an enjoyable round of golf, I highly recommend Stagg Hill. It's just about 8 minutes south of KSU campus but you'll feel like you're playing in a beautiful bubble. Go give them a try, and hit 'em straight!

Spoke at a meeting at the Stagg Hill Golf Club . The Manager, Chad, was presenting his tournament for an organization and had the entire group organized and ready on time and lined up well. He is very thorough in preparation. Course was in great shape and looked amazing despite some dry weather recently. Well done!

Being an older course we weren't sure what to expect when playing here for the first time but I'm glad we stopped. Course is pretty challenging with lots of large trees around. Course was in great shape when we played and pace was quicker than average. Course is laid out nice with lots of dogleg holes.
