A challenging course with so much natural beauty. Plus there was a welcoming committee of friendly dogs. Very affordable prices and a friendly proprietor.

There is something pure about this place. Nine holes on nine greens on a hilly property with some unique routing. It's casual and simple, short with no bunkers or water, yet it's not exactly easy. Small greens with steep runoffs offer a good defense against pin-hunters, and the banked fairways require careful consideration before ripping driver off every tee. The short par-fours are also not exactly layups.
In many ways, this course resembles the game as it was originally designed; a field game that is more raw than manicured.
If you are looking for plush fairways, 13 stimpmeter greens, and an exclusive environment, this is not it. It's a small-town track in the Holler Land of Appalachia with power lines crossing air space and a tiny cemetery sandwiched between an intersection of greens and tee boxes. It has character and it should be applauded.
It's a 5-star golf course because of its context and approach.

I don't play golf. I was there set up at a knife and gun show. But it's sure a nice place
