Poor Communication and Disappointing Experience
I come to Iowa once a year for a family camping trip, and we always look forward to golfing together. This year, I scheduled 18 holes for six players a month in advance and even called again four days prior to confirm.
On the morning of check-in, I was suddenly informed that all carts had to be returned by 1:30 pm because a bachelor party had rented out the course. That left us less than three hours to try and squeeze in 18 holes—a huge letdown. Management claimed they needed every cart, but when we looped back around at 1:00 pm, it was clear that wasn’t the case. Their massive cart shed was still full, and instead of managing the large group effectively, they just funneled everyone through tee #1, one group after another, with no structure.
It became obvious this wasn’t about carts at all, but about clearing us off the course. If they had simply called me ahead of time and offered an earlier tee time, my family and I could have gotten in the 18 holes we had been looking forward to for months.
To be fair, the owner was polite and let us replay the first hole—but that hardly made up for the poor planning and lack of communication. Unfortunately, this experience ruined what should have been a highlight of our trip. We won’t be golfing here again.

Popular destination and place to unwind. Greens are challenging with fast speeds and smooth rolling. Family friendly course.

I will never come here again! Course is in great shape, nice clubhouse, but $40 for 9 holes is not worth the course. On top of it we had trouble on the course. We were here for a small bachelor get together and we had several people not show up we had 3 booked tee times spread out for 30 minutes we only had 6 people so we decided to play a scramble with 3 man teams and tee off at the same time so we were all together knowing we had the time to spare. By the 2nd hole there was a 2 man group that was on the 2nd hole tee box when we were on the green. So the starter obviously let them tee off as soon as we had gone far enough out. Being polite we let the 2some play through on the 3rd hole. After we let them play through we hit off the tee and as we were driving off the tee we had another 4some come up to us madly and told us we weren’t playing by the rules because we had 6, I explained the situation to them and that the starter let them start early and what happened and he backed down and calmed down. By hole 5 the group had caught up to us. Given the situation that they were already irritated we politely waited for them to play through, which they declined so we kept playing. On the 6 green the starter came up to us fuming mad he yelled at us saying we were playing slow, people were waiting for us and he did us a favor for letting us play with 6, when we were 5 minutes off pace. Politely none of us said anything back to him and sped up the pace of play even more. As we played he watched us for the whole next hole. Watching he realized that we weren’t playing bad or slow at all. We golf every weekend together and I have a membership to a club and have a 4 handicap. So yeah we know the rules and play at a good pace. On top of that the bev cart drove past us 3 times in that 9 holes and never even looked at us or slowed down. Overall a horrible experience and will never go back!

We love being members at WG&CC! We have a family membership. When we are able to get out and golf at least a few times a month, it is well worth the reasonable cost! We can’t wait for our kids to grow up playing this course!

We played the course twice on a hot muggy day. Pace of play was relaxed and had nobody in front of us or behind. A few water crossings and a few dog legs. Really enjoyed ourselves.
