White Deer is an awesome course! It plays as challenging or long as you like with lots of tee options. They keep it in fantastic shape and after a little tree removal it looks even more beautiful at every hole! The clubhouse staff is fantastic and don’t forget to stop in at Charlie’s Hideaway for a delicious burger after your round. 10/10 I highly recommend at least a few rounds every season.

White Deer Run in Vernon Hills is an absolute gem! I’ve driven past it plenty of times and finally got out to play it recently with my buddies, and man, it did not disappoint. The course was in fantastic shape. Fairways were thick and lush, greens were rolling smooth and true, and the bunkers were well-maintained. Everything just felt cared for from tee to green. You can tell the maintenance crew really knows what they’re doing. Pace of play was perfect too. The starters and rangers kept things moving nicely without rushing anyone. The hospitality stood out big time. Ben and Tim are awesome. They take pride in their jobs and it shows. Honestly, the entire staff was super friendly and welcoming. The management team clearly sets a great tone because everyone seemed happy to be there and happy to help. The layout is a lot of fun as well. Nice variety of holes, some really solid risk-reward par 5s, and beautiful scenery. It’s challenging enough to keep you thinking but still fair and playable. If you’re in the area and looking for a well-run public course that feels like a private club experience, definitely put White Deer Run on your list. I’ll be back soon with my regular group. Easily 5 stars. Keep up the great work, team!”

We played two days in a row and really like the course. But, for the price there are some drawbacks. The cart path is a bombed out war zone. It’s not only ruining the carts, but it’s building migraines by the turn. There are lots of bunkers, which I like. But, rather than sand they are full of dirt, and often just hard packed mud. Many had standing water. Course water drainage is really poor; swampy in many areas, even on slopes. Since it hasn’t rained in a week, it must be from the sprinklers, which is surprising. We had to move our balls several times to get out of fairway standing water. And, the carts are damaging the soaked fairways. All that said, we’ll be back!

You'll be impressed with White Deer Run the minute you set foot on their grounds. Both inside and out the facilities are meticulously well maintained. This means beautiful wedding photos you'll have for a lifetime. The entire staff sweats the details so wedding couples don't have to. They make sure everything runs smoothly and according to your timeline. White Deer Run has earned a place as one of my preferred wedding venues. I look forward to officiating more ceremonies here.

I only gave 2 because the course was very nice. But very poor management. We had 2 4 somes booked for Saturday morning 10am the amenities very nice, clubhouse, range, restaurant. We heard the food was really good so we went early 830 to eat. When we arrived we were told no food till 9am on a Saturday for breakfast. OK we went to the range very nice. Back to clubhouse 9:15 to order; oh the cook just got here it'll be a minute to set up, OK well have a drink bartender was a bit upset he had to make drinks instead of cracking beers. Remember 10am tee time. OK 930 I guess we'll just have a breakfast sandwich, very good sandwich! Oh by the there will not be a beverage cart on a Saturday for memorial weekend!! You need to get drinks now. At $114 a round I'm not impressed with management at this point already. We tee off 10am on Saturday busy day right, by the 3rd hole we needed 2 carts replaced battery is dead in cart. Getting messages at behind pace, well can't help that our cart died. We are playing a scramble already so not playing every ball; and playing par so far. With all this still going to finish getting 9 in 2hrs 10 min with 2 interruptions from raner telling up to pick up pace!! By 9th hole another cart dies; Remember 10am tee time Saturday morning and 3 of the 4 carts needed replacement totally out of our control. That's 8 golfers $114, range buckets, breakfast and drinks. That's a lot money and hassle for a Saturday morning. Now 2 more ranger interruption slowing us down, 15th we were asked to skip the next 2 holes!! HAHAHA unbelievable we were 4 over par at time playing a scramble not messing around. I told the ranger refund our money we will leave right now no problem. He called pro shop they offered a 9 hole raincheck, I responded that unacceptable we paid and we will finish. Your carts running out of battery at 10am is not our fault. While golfers behind us complaining, totally understandable, being told the hold up is our fault not 3 of 4 carts dieing!! To the point being hassled in parking lot by golfers that had no idea that it was not our fault! This is all a management team problem why did they not charge carts over night? Why is the cook late? Why no beverage cart on a holiday weekend? I will never play here again!! Even if they would have refunded our money which would have been the professional thing to do!! I recommend going elsewhere for less maybe in Cary Foxford Hills or Chalet hills less expensive and better experience!
