Naperbrook GC is a very good public course, and I recommend it.
An excellent newer chipping area, along with full driving range, provides superior practice facilities compared to other courses in the area.
The course design is relatively flat, offering an opportunity to easily walk 18. Riding carts are available, and I would describe them as adequate quality. Basic GPS is on the carts, but it's older tech and the carts themselves were a bit shop-worn.
Several water hazards, along with plenty of sand traps, keep the course a challenge. A variety of tee boxes cater to all skill levels. Hole #18 design is really creative, a personal favorite hole in the area.
This course is played hard and gets a ton of traffic. The maintenance crew does a great job of trying to keep the course in good condition. Sand traps are usually the first thing I look at with respect to maintenance quality, and the team at Naperbrook take good care of the traps. That said, greens had a lot of ball marks, and fairways had their share of divots. Pace of play for a mid-week day afternoon round was a little over 4 hours, so not bad.
Two of the Par 3 tee box areas were under complete renovation when we played our round. That's a great sign of course management IMHO, as I play a lot of different courses and par 3 tee boxes often can be a disaster from divots and lack of maintenance. Thanks for tackling that Naperbrook!
Staff at the pro shop and starter station were pleasant and on task.
For an early November round, Naperbrook offered an outstanding value. Enjoy!

If you’re going to open the range and raise prices for a basket please take 5 minutes and put the pins/targets back up

Great course. The layout is pretty good and the pro shop is excellent with helpful people. Hole three has eaten several of my balls. Oh they can’t sell alcohol before 10 either so make sure to plan for that. They are also very time management which I liked. Great deck area too.
