One of the most exclusive golf experiences you may ever have in lifetime (don’t miss the truth about Hole 14 below). This bucket-list golf course, home to the world’s only floating green on Hole 14, is worth every penny spent on travel, stay, and play. The course isn’t just beautiful - it offers breathtaking views of Lake Coeur d’Alene from nearly every place. It becomes both fun and challenging, especially on the front nine where you play up/downhill slopes while constantly distracted by the stunning scenery of hills, water, and mountains. Of course, most golfers come here for the iconic Hole 14. The green literally floats in the lake. Every morning, the staff adjusts the cables to set that day’s distance - and it stays fixed all day. There’s a sign near the clubhouse showing the exact yardage (you can tune your shots to that distance at the floating balls driving range before you start). You tee off from land, aim to check your ball in on the floating green, then ride a small boat called the Putter to finish your putt. If you make par (3) or better, you earn a commemorative certificate - a memory you’ll never forget. Important note (that AI or word-of-mouth often gets wrong): 1. You’re only allowed two shots from the tee box to try to reach the green. 2. The certificate isn’t given just for playing the hole - you must score par or better to earn it. Ironically, my son was paired with two amateur players that day and both took penalties off the tee and missed par. We were told that many overthink the shot. In truth, the green is wide but shallow, so distance control and club choice (usually a wedge) are critical. My son made par that day, and we were absolutely thrilled. This is the experience you come here for. All the staff members supported him - ferry captain, referee, caddy, clubhouse staff, other players! You don’t have to stay at the resort to play the course, but make sure to book far in advance - it’s often fully reserved. Yes, it’s pricey (though they offer junior rates), and no, the burgers may not be the best you’ve ever had. But that’s not why you’re here - you’re here to play an iconic course. And Coeur d’Alene delivers.

Beautiful place but ruined by the caddy. For it being my second time ever playing, hearing that we were to expect a fast round and that he worked a double that day wasn’t ok. He repeatedly kicked or threw my ball forward and when I decided to stop playing so that I could enjoy just hanging out because it was no longer fun, he went and talked behind my back to my party which was super embarrassing. Maybe I shouldn’t have played this course so early but was brought along by friends. Terrible experience on such a nice day.

Played this course on Friday September 5th. I saw the reviews of the slow play but we played in 4 hours 15 at 1:30 PM which is a very good pace for a resort course. We had a great caddie named Jace who was awesome all round. Course itself has some spectacular holes that are very memorable but a horrible finish to the golf course. Overall was a great day and well worth the visit.
