A great course. Very good condition from tee to the green. Friendly service. A tight course in a few places but very Fair. I like bunkers with real sand in them. Absolutely will play it again. If you are in the area, you should play it.πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈβ›³πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Ok here's my assessment of Collin's Hill Golf Course: 1. It is a busy course in the morning and probably like that through out the day. 2. There is no starter and the tee times appears to fill up. 3. The fairways are nice in the middle but rough around the edges. 4. The cart paths are pretty beat up and give a rough ride. 5. The traps are hard and even have bits of concrete in them. 6. The front is a par 37 with three par 5s while the back is a par 35 for a total par 72. 7. One of the par 5 on the front and back can be reached in two from the blue tees. (The blue tees are the tip) I forgot what the total yardage was from the tips; maybe just over 6300yds. 8. A couple of par 4's on front and back can be driven for long ball hitters. 9. Water comes into play for only one hole on the back which can really be carried, but it's there. 10. Some of the greens are nice with some beat up and painted. 11. The painted greens will turn your hands green after you pick up your now green ball. 12. The pro shop staff is just ok- not much to say and all business. 13. The carts are gas and just ok. 14. The course is a little hilly which creates blind spots as to where the group in front is at and where the flag is to the green. 15. The greens appeared to run true on the front but fast on the back. 16. There are no porta-potty's anywhere on the course. 17. Seniors 60+ years pay $39 plus tax all the time. 18. There was no cart girl and they may not have one at anytime on the course, so bring your own snack and water or purchase them inside. I did not use the practice facilities but the practice green is in great shape and there is a driving range and it cost to use it. I would probably play it again at the senior rate, early & between Mon-Thu. (personal preference) IMO: This course isn't as bad as some of the reviews would leave you to believe and I would rate this course a 3.2 as it is just a bit better than average.

Update: I received an email from Scott about the 5th hold flooding. It was apparently an irrigation valve leak. It was addressed and the flow of water to the green has now stopped. Thanks to Scott for responding to me so quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Played the course yesterday for the first time. I have to say I was satisfied with the layout of the course. I only played the first 9 holes, but although it is not long, there are a few dog legs and hills that make the course challenging. In addition, creeks appear at the most inopportune times, making you have to decide whether to risk trying to go over the water or lay up. Laying up makes you fail to reach the green in regulation and have to scramble to save par. So I found it to be challenging and causes you to really think about course management. As far as maintenance, I know there are some complaints among the other reviews. I feel like yes, there are concerns about greens not being up to par. But honestly, compared to another municipal course I go to, I found them to be adequate. A couple of them have dead grass on a couple of them that should be addressed. The other thing I notice is that the rough, is well, rough. What I mean is that the rough outside the fairways is pretty long, and your ball kind of gets lost in it. I am not sure if that is intended but it would be nice to have that maintained a little better. With that said, the other course I go to has rough that is barely maintained at all. I found that hitting into the rough here is at least playable even if difficult. On the 5th hole, the green was flooded and unplayable. It has been raining a lot lately, but there is definitely a drainage issue. I mentioned it to an employee and I expect that to be addressed. The driving range, while usable, needs some work. The mats are old, and you are not allowed to hit woods or driver. I just needed to warm up, and not being able to hit a few with my driver is not good. I am not sure why this rule is in place but adding some rubber tees should be doable. I found the staff here to be courteous and helpful. I will be back.
