The course was perfect, the greens are super fast. We were a group of one player and one spectator. We had a two-some ahead of us who crossed over to the front 9 to purchase something from the cart girl, they called the clubhouse on us because we moved ahead of them (clearly because they moved out of play) and the ranger literally questioned OUR GOLF ETIQUETTE and made us wait for them to come back and get ahead of us, not only did we have to wait but said two-some decided to hit two balls each at the next hole and take their sweet time. We could have easily moved ahead and finished our game long before they did. It went from a game with pace of play of about 3 hours to actually turning into a 4 hour game.

Wow. West Pines is an awesome layout. So MANY cool holes. Nearly every hole could be a signature hole at other courses.
The course has really cool holes. Lots of hitting downhill and uphill. My home course is considered hilly, and it’s an airport compared to West Pines. If you’re going to walk this course, think twice about.
My ONLY knock of this place is it’s 18 holes that doesn’t come back to the clubhouse. So there’s no real way to get out for a quick 9 on foot. And there’s really no “jumping out the back”. In other words, when you choose to walk the front 9, and realize it’s way too hard, it’s a LONG walk into the clubhouse to get a cart for the back.
Greens are in great shape. They are slower than other places this time of year, March, but I’m sure they can get speedy in the summer. Bunkers are in great shape. More than a few blind shots, but I don’t recall any blind shots into greens.
I’ll be playing here every round I can while I’m in the greater Atlanta area.
