The Claw at USF Tee Times

An ok golf course to play if you're a beginner or just not very good. The greens were in excellent shape, the tee boxes were decent. However, if you're not from Florida and don't know what a fire ant mound looks like, you may want to play a nicer track because there were fire ant mounds everywhere, even in the fairways. Also, the place just seems tired & run down. I get that it's relatively cheap but I would think that a major college university would have a much nicer golf course

As a USF Alumni I am requesting the take USF’s name off this golf course! It’s embarrassing how bad it is. Tee boxes are sand traps. The greens are unputtable & worse of all is I didn’t see any wildlife. When we used to play this course before & during college it was beautiful & busy with wildlife! Now, nothing. After nine holes I asked & received a refund very easily. From what I’m hearing, this golf course is soon to become the parking for the new USF football stadium. Just remember you heard it here first!!

The "home field" course for USF fans. Could use some love but the price is right, the people are friendly and laid back, and usually not slammed pack. Update: Sad to see it go but they never took care of it. It's even worse now that they have a date of closure.

This course is unplayable. I knew I wasn’t getting a gem for $40, but this is practically robbery. Half the tees are full of sand and you can’t hit from the Teebox. Half the greens are ravaged and full of sand. I don’t think they water the course. I know this is the off-season, but I can’t imagine this course it’s much better during the year. I feel bad for the USF kids. Avoid at all costs.

The course is getting back to the way it use to be, well at least the greens are. I have not played the claw since last year and I was pleasantly surprised. I doubt that this course will ever reach back to its full potential, but for now it works just right for me. I spent 20yrs in the military, so them not having a decent rest room is not a negative. Having to change our cart twice most definitely is. The carts are in rough shape and have seen better days.
