The setting alone makes it worth the visit. The course is in excellent condition — fairways and greens are beautifully maintained, and the small, well-protected greens make approach shots fun and challenging.
Pace of play was great — a relaxed, quick round with no waiting around. Some might find the $45 price tag high for just 9 holes walking. But it’s a solid value given the location and course quality. There aren’t many public options nearby, and Fenwick easily stands out for its views, condition, charm, and history.
If you’re in the area and want a scenic, fast, and well-kept nine holes by the water, this is the spot.

Recently played this course at the end of August 2025. This was our first time playing this 9-hole course in Fenwick which is a borough of Old Saybrook, CT.
Before I continue, please note that this is a public golf course but also has members who have early access to tee times. For public tee times, you must log in online 24-hours prior. Tee times are available at 6 AM the previous day for the public.
Overall, had a great experience and would highly recommend. The starter was very friendly and easy going. The starter shack is also where you pay since the course does not have a separate pro shop. The course has push carts available for rental as well as actual golf carts. The price was reasonable for a 9-hole round with carts on the weekend compared to other golf courses in the area.
After meeting with the starter, we were greeted by the ranger who was very helpful. The ranger informed us that the course is built upon an outlet of Old Saybrook so it's difficult to have full irrigation. We also played in late August when a majority of the grass in CT is burned or dead. The fairways had some burnt grass but the tee boxes and greens were in great shape. The ranger even guided us to the first tee box and even gave us a "breakfast" ball. Upon completion of the first tee, he drove and guided us to the 2nd tee box which is tucked away in a neighborhood. Halfway through our round, we were greeted by another ranger, Peter, who was one of the nicest golf rangers I've met. He gave us positive encouragement regarding our pace of play and informed us that there was a tournament that was about to begin after us. He made us feel very welcomed without feeling rushed.
Overall, had a fantastic time playing at this hidden golf course in Old Saybrook. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a golf course with beautiful views and a friendly staff.

Hidden gem for real golfers. This charming, quirky track is kept in great condition; is well run and welcoming; there’s always a robust breeze making it fun and defusing the heat; the layout is weird and tricky; and the views are spectacular. Too bad you have to drive into town for a beer after.
