I've been in a bad relationship with this course since the post-flood redesign and I'm now ready to break-up (I know...it took me awhile). I know this redesign initially won some accolades, I get it, coming back from a 500 year flood really is notable. Unfortunately, the long term playability of some the changes, particularly the changes to the greens complexes, really is showing after a decade. I'm going to lay the blame at the feet of Norby Designs, the firm that was hired to handle the design decisions, because what Dick Phelps initially designed and built was magnificent. Why Norby felt the need to rework so many of the greens to eliminate their subtleties and uniqueness I'll never know. Hole 2 and 13 stand out in this regard as multi-tiered monstrosities with interceding slopes of 4 degrees and even greater in places. The added challenge reaches truly comical micky mouse levels (don't even get me started on the putt around course that killed the practice green). And while not every green is as egregious as 2 and 13, I can't help but feel like the heart of this course has left with the flood. Lots of little things no longer quite have the same pinash like the course upkeep, hospitality, and pro shop. Obviously some of this isn't Norby's fault and has just as much to do with the city taking back operations post-flood. Regardless, I can't in good conscious come back to this course any longer or recommend it on here. I guess it'll have to just be sweet memories of what once was from here...

The fact this place has a 3.9 is (captain ) insane-o. Well maintained- t-boxes get divots but people forget to bring sand from their carts or if at all walking. Creative t-markings instead of colors . Greens in good shape reasonable cost. Beautiful views of the front range and even the flat irons on the front. I prefer this Course to Boulder — where balls are always landing near you from adjacent fairways. Highly recommend- true gem in the front range. Pro shop is chill (often the place to find the annoyed long term employee with the grumps—take job for granted —not here!) and well stocked. People in Louisville definitely know. Well done Coal Creek !! Practice putt green great undulations and swales ! Can’t wait to play again ! A++!

Course itself, pretty challenging and well cared for. Greens just punched, but still not bad considering. Fairways good, rough is thick and challenging. The bad review starts here: $85 to come out and be absolutely tormented all day about returning the carts on time. Played a 4.20 total time:pace starting at 2:40 pm for 18 holes with traffic in front and experienced a particular marshal tell us 6 times to bring the carts in by 7:15. We had them in before 7… We then played around and recovered on your fun putt putt course for about 15 minutes. Mind you.. others were at the bar area and still walking / playing. We once again were heckled by the same marshal on your free putting area to leave by 7:15. He was sure to get in his car and leave on the dot, so it’s apparent he had somewhere to be. Do not pester your high paying customers who otherwise are being both respectful and mindful of the course. You’ve lost several customers today.
