Stopped playing after 6 holes, they didn’t tell me that I was going to be a shotgun start and ended up getting done with those 6 holes after a little over 2 hours. Went to the pro shop to get a refund and met barb who wasn’t exactly a ray of sunshine because I didn’t want to play a 6 hour long match of golf. After talking with her, another employee of the course, and Barb talking to her manager they then gave the refund. Course of the fairway was decent, outside the fairway was dead yellow gross. The greens were in pretty mid conditions with a lot of the greens covered in divot holes and patchy sand areas. The course should be $60 but it’s pretty much double at $140. Wouldn’t recommend this course and will stay away.

Course itself was a decent layout and in good condition. However, clubhouse lady was short and rude…range was closed at 4 pm??? The starter was ridiculously rude…wouldn’t give us a cart key until about 5 minutes until we teed off…leaving us to have to walk a ways to practice chipping and putting. We had an enjoyable round of 9 holes with friends but when we finished we were met with criticism from the starter with how slow we played. 2 hours and 15 minutes is not a slow pace. And, with no ranger to ask us to pick up the pace (if we were slow). It simply left me with a sour feeling after a nice round of golf. I won’t be back.

This was a “one and done” course for me. The course was in great shape, but our experience prior to the round was disappointing, to say the least. The lady in the pro shop was not who you want greeting your guests. The starter was unprofessional and arrogant. He greeted my playing partner with a “what’s up?” We’re trying to figure out your course as first time guests. That’s what’s up! How about trying “Welcome to Oakwood. Have you played here before?”
Also, there were no refreshment carts on the course. Our tee time was at 12:30 pm. The only place to get a cold drink was in the pro shop cooler, but we discovered they closed at 2 pm, right before we got to the turn.
The Stone & Barrel restaurant saved the day. They were kind, professional and the food was great and fairly priced. They even had live “yacht rock” music, which was fantastic. Next time, we play golf somewhere else and then head to Stone and Barrel for a bite to eat.
